SHERRARDSWOOD Yellows Under-11s kept up their title challenge with a hard-fought 4-1 victory over John Warner Whites.

After an even start, John Warner took the lead on seven minutes.

A shot was tipped against the bar by keeper Harry Rember, but John Warner reacted quickest to score.

Soon after the ball was in the net again, but ruled out for offside.

This prompted Yellows to start playing and the equaliser came five minutes later.

Reggie Ross was set free by Luke Foster and outpaced the defence before slotting home.

Yellows took the lead just before half-time after Elis Woodford was fouled by the keeper in the box.

Woodford smashed home the resultant penalty.

Luke Foster was then bought down when about to score, but with an obscured view the referee played on.

The second half was mainly Yellows but the Warner keeper was proving hard to beat.

Yellows' defence stood firm, well marshalled by Sean Thomas.

Mitchell Wilson and Foster both hit the woodwork, before two late goals made the game safe.
