FIRST-half goals from Louise Love and Jax Bryceland were enough for Sherrardswood Ladies to beat Flitwick Eagles 2-1 in the league on Sunday.

It was a tough match from the off with both teams giving it their all.

The hosts got themselves in front after vice-captain Love found the back of the net following a corner.

Soon after the lead was doubled. Jo Meakins and Katie Baron worked together to get a ball back in the box.

Sherrardswood striker Bryceland got on the end of the centre and struck it into the net.

Eagles did not let their heads drop and continued to battle.

The Flitwick side got their reward with half an hour played. A shot from all of 30 yards found the target to make it 2-1.

Sherrardswood created numerous attacking opportunities in the second half, as did their opponents.

The hosts had an amazing defensive period when Baron twice cleared a ball off the goal-line in quick succession.

Keeper Paula Collis also made some great saves and Sherrardswood were unlucky not to score more in their favour.

Baron was named player of the match.
