THE Scholars picked up another league point on their travels as they drew 1-1 after a game of few chances at Redbridge on Saturday.

Steve Browne's troops had led at the break through a Paul Armstrong header.

However, a comical own goal from the unfortunate Milton Elengie levelled the match and ensured a share of the points at the Oakside Stadium.

Both sides began slowly, with a poor Carl Bruce header for the Motormen from a deep James Bly cross the only real chance in the first quarter.

Nathan Scarborough then didn't quite connect properly when the ball dropped to him in the box and it was easily collected by Potters Bar keeper Ashlee Jones.

Town's Serge Mokofo looked useful when he had the ball at his feet and he was involved in the visitors' first real opportunity.

The winger burst through the Redbridge back line.

When he was challenged in the area the ball popped up to Andre Humphrey, who acrobatically hit a shot wide of Tony Tucker's goal.

Gary Henty whipped a corner from the right to the back post at the other end. It was met by the head of home centre half Anton Agdomar, but he couldn't direct it.

Play once again switched to the other end. Left winger Humphrey collected the ball on his flank and delivered the ball temptingly into the box.

Striker Armstrong got in front of his marker and nodded low into the bottom right corner out of Tucker's reach for the opener.

Bar's advantage could have been doubled when Alex Bolt's corner was looped over the target by the head of Elengie.

Forward Jacob Erskine did likewise from a Henty corner early in the second half as Redbridge looked to level.

They were then gifted the equaliser on 70 minutes.

A free-kick on the right caused havoc in the Bar box. It was cleared off the line and fell to sub James Nash.

His attempted hack clear hit the back of Elengie and ricocheted into the Scholars' net.

For the next 10 minutes the home side looked likely to go ahead, but a succession of set pieces failed to find them another goal.

With the clock ticking down, Erskine got away from the Potters Bar rearguard.

However, he took a heavy touch with just Jones to beat, allowing Sylvain Doussou to recover and get in a challenge.

Minutes later Erskine had an excellent attempt from 20 yards.

He brought the ball down on his chest, turned and smashed an effort just wide.

A Jones goal-kick was controlled expertly by Mokofo on the left wing.

He turned his man and went on a mazy dribble.

Mokofo was only stopped by as a last-ditch tackle as he pulled the trigger.

From the ensuing Bolt corner, a scramble in the area could have seen Bar sneak a winner but the final effort came from sub Sam Adejokun, who was denied by Tucker.
