POTTERS Bar Town were thumped 6-1 away at Rugby Town last night (Tuesday) in match in which three penalties were awarded against them.

The Scholars had started the season with a fine 2-0 home win over Kettering Town on Saturday, but that good form disappeared after the mid-week trip to Warwickshire.

Rugby opened the scoring on four minutes through Justin Marsden and Lewis McBride doubled their lead.

The hosts earned the first of their spot kicks when Craig Kelly was felled in the box, Sam Belcher converted for a 3-0 half-time lead.

David Kolodynski was next to go down in the area, his initial penalty was saved, but he knocked in the rebound for 4-0.

Lewis Bishop curled in a fifth for Rugby before Jack Friend netted a consolation for The Scholars.

The night was rounded off with a third penalty for the hosts as Seb Lake-Gaskin tucked home after Ellis Myles was fouled.

Bar will hope for a vast improvement as they head to Royston Town on Saturday.
