Welwyn Rangers lift the cup

Welwyn Rangers romped to their first trophy by beating a spirited Eight Bells by 5-2 in the Welwyn Hatfield Sunday Football League Memorial Cup final.

Rangers went for Bells straight from the kick-off and went ahead in the third minute when Ade Hammill set up Stefan Saywell and he

smashed the ball into the net.

With the wind at their backs Rangers were causing Bells lots of problems and should have extended their lead creating chance after chance.

Rangers scored their second when a long kick from keeper Andrew Muschialli beat the Bells defence and Saywell ran clear and fired in.

Rangers were in control with Bells relying on breakaways, but just before half-time Rangers extended their lead when Ryan North set-up Saywell for his hat-trick.

With the wind at their backs Bells started to come into the game a lot more, but again Rangers scored when Saywell set up Lee Brinkley who ran through and chipped the keeper from 25 yards.

The fifth goal came when North went on one of his trademark runs and he placed it past the keeper and in.

Bells pulled a couple back through an own goal and a Ben Bailey effort, but Rangers ran out worthy 5-2 winners.
