WELWYN Pegasus Royals Under-15s put two goals past Wheathampstead Sharks to book a place in the final of the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Cup.

Both defences put in strong performances in perfect playing conditions.

Sam Rayner, Ben Holm, Kyle Grove and Jay Lovell deserve special praise for limiting the Sharks to one real chance which goalkeeper Cam Baker-Owers parried over the bar.

Royals' goals came in either side of the half.

Eddie Metzger bagged the first when he was rewarded for his tireless efforts.

Jack Lewis sealed the victory with a fine strike from outside the box and the Royals can now look forward to a final against last year's League Cup runners-up Wormley Youth.
