WELWYN Pegasus Royals Under-9s came from behind to beat Wodson Park 6-3 away on Saturday.

Pegasus started slowly and soon found themselves 2-0 down to eager opponents. However, to their credit this early reversal kick-started them into action and their pressure was rewarded when a James Wood corner was deflected into the net.

The Royals then went into overdrive and Tom Meenan scored two quick goals.

A well-taken Oliver Harris effort meant that the Royals had rescued the situation and went into half-time leading 4-2.

The second half saw a more composed performance, particularly from man-of-the-match Tom Jarman whose good positional play cleared up most Wodson attacks.

The Royals added two more goals through a Tom Collins free-kick and Tom Meenan's third of the day.

They could have scored more but for a combination of bad luck and poor finishing, Louis Fitzgerald being particularly unlucky in front of goal.

Wodson eventually got a third goal to leave the final score at 6-3 to the Royals, a result which consolidates their place in the top three of the league.
