SHERRARDSWOOD & Birchwood Rangers Under-14s Reds lost on penalties in the final of the Potters Bar United tournament at the weekend.

Rangers entered two teams, the Reds and Yellows.

Both sides won their respective groups and made it to the quarter-finals.

The Yellows lost 2-0 to Welwyn Pegasus Sky, but the Reds won 1-0 against Garston Old Boys Blacks.

The Reds then met Pegasus in the semi-final.

A tight match ended 0-0 after extra time and was level after five penalties each.

It was left to keeper Freddie Kenison to take the first sudden-death kick, which he scored confidently.

He then went on to make a fantastic save with the ball hitting him hard in the middle lower regions, bringing tears to his and everyone else's eyes.

The final against Whetstone Wanderers was similarly tight.

Whetstone took the lead with a rocket shot from outside the area.

Elliott Johnson claimed his fourth goal of the tournament to level with a header.

Wanderers went ahead again, only for Jordan Lewis to drive in another equaliser.

Again it went to penalties and this time Sherrardswood & Birchwood lost 5-4 to take the runners-up award.
