SHERRARDSWOOD & Birchwood Rangers Under-11s gave themselves an outside chance of finishing runners-up in the league after recording their fifth win on the bounce.

Rangers celebrated a 3-2 victory against rivals John Warner Reds with Craig Whichelow netting the winner.

Top scorer Whichelow opened the scoring with a crisp finish after some slick Rangers passing.

Reds hit back with a long-range effort to level the scores just before half-time.

The second half saw both sides come close to scoring with some excellent saves from Rangers keeper Brooke Matthews keeping the Reds at bay.

Jack Tang edged Rangers back in front with a superb lob over the keeper from distance.

Again, John Warner came back and equalised with a well-worked goal.

With only a couple of minutes left, Whichelow grabbed the winner for Sherrardswood with a superb volley from the edge of the box to take his season's tally to 32.

Birchwood goalkeeper Matthews was awarded man of the match for a great all-round performance.
