LEMSFORD Pumas Under-9s continued their upturn in fortunes by beating Wheathampstead Pumas 2-0 at Rowans.

The victory made it two straight wins on the bounce with clean sheets.

It was the side's performance of the season as Lemsford rocked their high-flying opposition.

Sammy Ready had the first chance with a rocket shot that rattled both posts but bobbled away.

Wheathampstead retained substantial possession but Lemsford kept the pressure on.

After 15 minutes some sublime interplay between Jamie Kamani and Tommy Colbert released new signing Albie Langdon, who bagged his second goal in two games.

Lemsford then dug in and held off the Wheathampstead attacks with determined and firm defending from captain and player of the match Scott Wilson, together with Rebecca Morgan and Ryan Carr.

Lemsford continued their up-tempo team performance after the break to keep Wheathampstead at bay.

Lemsford manager Martin Ready used his squad effectively by making tactical substitutions and a neat pass from Connor Dee on the counter-attack allowed midfielder Luke Latter to speed away to slot the decisive second goal into the right corner to seal the win.

Keeper Jamal Egbe kept another clean sheet.
