Potters Bar Town have moved to ease their goalkeeping crisis by bringing in a New Zealand international from League One AFC Wimbledon.

Nik Tzanev made his international debut for the All Whites in June last year and has been with the Dons since 2017.

And the 22-year-old will fill the gap vacated while regular number one Berkley Laurencin serves a three-match suspension following his sending off in the defeat to Brightlingsea Regent.

Tzanev, who moved to England at the age of nine, started his career with Brentford and has featured as an unused substitute for his current club.

He joins on an initial month’s loan, a similar move that saw him make six appearances for Lewes in 2015.

A spokesman for the Scholars said: “Welcome to the Pakex Nik and thanks to AFC Wimbledon for the loan of such a great asset.”

He goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s Bostik Premier Division game at Bognor Regis Town.
