Potters Bar Town suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Marlow in the Southern League Division One Central on Saturday.

After a bright start the Scholars went a goal behind after just four minutes when Marlow’s Richie Whittingham headed in.

Ben Bowditch got the equaliser for the hosts with a volley six minutes later.

However, Bar didn’t get going and Marlow looked particularly dangerous on the break and from set pieces.

On 17 minutes Bar failed to clear their lines and Marlow took full advantage to go 2-1 up through Lee Barney.

The second half saw Town improve, but too many Bar players lacked industry and effort.

On 81 minutes Marlow wrapped up the game to make it 3-1 as Whittingham bagged his second and Barney hit the side’s fourth as he netted a brace with seconds left.
