Two first half goals gave Potters Bar Town a 2-0 win away at Arlesey Town on Boxing Day in a wind affected Southern League Division One Central game.
The Scholars went into the clash on the back of defeats to Kings Langley (4-1) and Godalming Town (2-1), and were looking to recover some festive cheer.
Things started well for the away side, Eoin Casey opened the scoring for Steve Ringrose’s Potters Bar outfit with just 16 minutes on the clock.
Ashley Nathaniel-George crossed from the right with Casey getting across his marker at the near post to score.
Eleven minutes later Luke Warner-Eley surprised no-one except the Blues’ keeper with a well struck free-kick from distance that doubled the Scholars lead.
Two up at half-time Potters Bar looked to extend their lead after the break.
However, for long periods of the second half the away side struggled with a strong head on wind which made conditions difficult.
It was, however, The Scholars who had the best of the chances as Arlesey failed to take advantage of the conditions.
It was almost 3-0 as early as the fourth minute of the second half as a Sean Grace shot was pushed away by the keeper with Chris Doyle following up only for his shot to come back off the post.
Ten minutes later the Scholars broke after a period of pressure only for Jerry Maja’s shot to hit the upright again.
Potters Bar return to league action on Saturday as they host Chalfont St Peter at the Pakex Stadium.
