Potters Bar stay top after draw at Ilford

POTTERS Bar Town top scorer James Gershfield was left stranded in a traffic jam last night (Wednesday) as his table-topping side kicked-off their Ryman League Division One North game against Ilford, a match in which they were held to a 1-1 draw.

The attacker had netted in all six of his side’s previous league games, but that run ended as he was introduced to the encounter as a second half substitute.

Without their talisman, Bar took the lead when Cole Penney netted in the ninth minute.

However, Adam Lee’s men were unable to add to their tally and were pegged back level with less than 10 minutes to go as Guy Bonwick struck for Ilford.

The point leaves Bar top of the table by two points from second placed Tilbury and Cheshunt in third spot.

Potters Bar travel away to AFC Sudbury on Saturday.
