TWO first half goals from in-form James Gershfield and a second half killer blow from Daniel Ailey were enough to see Potters Bar Town through to the next round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 replay win over Cheshunt on Tuesday night.

The Scholars will now face Hendon in the first round qualifying tie at Vale Farm.

In the preliminary round replay, after the two had drawn 2-2 on Saturday, Bar’s Gershfield opened the scoring against The Ambers within 30 seconds of the kick-off as he finished a flowing move down the left.

His second came eight minutes before half-time after he combined with Anton Agdomar before slotting home with his left foot.

The visitors from Theobalds Lane pulled one back just two minutes later with Andrew West finishing after good work on the left from Michael Deane.

Bar substitute Ailey ended any hopes of a comeback by The Ambers half an hour into the second period striking a fine 20-yard effort past the visiting keeper.
