Cheshunt v Potters Bar Town

POTTERS Bar Town slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to near neighbours Cheshunt in a close encounter at Theobalds Lane on Saturday.

Forward Graeme Dearie slotted home in the second half from close range to steal all three points for the Ambers in a tight and nervy Ryman League Division One North affair.

Home keeper Joe Wright was in action early, twice leaving his line to save at the feet of Bar’s Jake Parratt and making a save low to his right from a 25-yard direct free-kick.

The game settled into a familiar pattern and defences were on top as the sides went in locked at 0-0 at half-time.

Cheshunt livened up in the second half and forced two corners in quick succession.

From the second the Scholar’s failed to clear and Dearie was on the spot to turn home the crucial goal to settle a drab affair.
