PANSHANGER Yellows Under-8s Panthers beat Bury Rangers Reds 4-1 at Moneyhole Lane on a bright Saturday morning.

The first half was mainly controlled by Panshanger, who managed to notch up a 3-0 lead by half-time thanks to a goal from the edge of the box by Sam Faulkner, a short- range chip from Taylor Hurt and superb driven shot by Elliot Matthew.

Man-of-the-match Ryan Thorlby and George Brown put in commanding performances in defence and managed to neutralise most of the Bury attacks.

Goalkeeper Brandon Williams took care of the shots that did make it through.

One notable effort was heading for the top corner, only for Brandon to save with a spectacular dive at full stretch to push the effort wide.

The Reds had a lot more attacking play in the second half but more superb chasing and tackling from George and Ryan kept them at bay.

Bury did breakthrough with a few minutes to go, only to have their attacker brought down just inside the box. A penalty was awarded and was subsequently buried in the bottom corner to reduce the deficit to 3-1.

Panshanger, however, had the last word when the Bury goalkeeper misjudged a cross and allowed Sam to tap in his second of the game.
