ON the first anniversary of the sad passing of a fellow club member, Panshanger Whites Under-15s beat Harpenden Colts Admirals 6-0 on Sunday.

Both sides paid tribute to Mathew Blease with a minute's round of applause.

Feeling the effects of an impending blizzard, both teams were slow to start.

That was until captain Charlie Kelly opened the scoring.

He hit an absolute screamer of a volley from 30 yards out, nearly breaking the back of the net in the process.

This lifted the Whites' spirits no end.

Nathan Hill came closest with a shot just going over the bar.

In the second half Kelly donned the keeper's jersey.

This was despite a minor back injury following a bizarre gardening incident the day before.

Kelly managed to pull off some amazing goal-line clearances to ensure the Whites kept a clean sheet.

Quality through balls from the midfield of Rob Smith, Ryan Mitchell and Jae Stevens allowed forwards Warren Clayson and Michael Montague to convert further chances.

Right-back Aaron Hemsley headed in a corner past the hapless Harpenden keeper.

Further goals came from Chad Austin and Lewis Whitehead to seal the 6-0 win, with each goal having Mathew's name on it.
