SUNDAY side Old Barge FC celebrated finishing runners-up in WHSFL Division Two with an end of season tour to Majorca.

Their final Welwyn Hatfield Sunday League match of the 2007-08 campaign saw them seal second place with a fine 2-0 victory over Eight Bells, last year's Division Three champions.

The Hertford-based side won against their Old Hatfield rivals with goals from Chris Girdlestone and Toby Gardner.

The first from Girdlestone was a 30-yard screamer and fitted a game played in excellent spirit by both sides.

While on tour in Spain, the team came third in an 11-a-side tournament.

Old Barge were also sixth out of 16 in a 5-a-side competition undoubtedly hampered by sampling the Magaluf nightlife.

Manager Micky White said: "The tour was great fun and enjoyed by all the lads.

"It emphasised and reinforced the team ethic that has underpinned our success this year.
