Nick Elliott has brought Lee Close’s monopoly of the player of the month award to an end after he was awarded the October award at Welwyn Garden City.

Close, who has excelled in both midfield and central defence since joining the Citizens, had scooped the trophies in both August and September.

But it was Elliott, left, who took the gong for October as he too showed superb form in the middle of the park.

The energetic midfielder joined from Biggleswade United last season and has scored eight times since for the Clarets.

His three goals this term all came during the month, including one in the Southern League win over Kidlington.
