New joint-manager Hendy Manning got off to a winning start as Codicote beat high-flying Baldock Town 2-1 in Spartan South Midlands Division One at Roker Park on Saturday (October 17).

It was the hired hands that came up trumps as well as former Barton Rovers man Phil Smeaton and Liam Brooks, formerly of Hitchin Town, were on target for a resurgent Cod.

With the game level at 1-1 going into the final 10 minutes, Brooks curled home from 18 yards to earn a valuable three points.

The result lifts the Gosling Stadium side away from the relegation trapdoor after a dicey start to the season.
