THE Scholars may well be without midfielder Nick McCoy when the new football season begins.

Former MK Dons players McCoy has been having trials with Scottish side St Johnstone.

Potters Bar Town boss Steve Browne said: "We'll probably lose Nick.

"He's got a good chance of going to St Johnstone, as well as some big clubs that have come in for him now, like AFC Wimbledon.

"We're not going to compete with them. He has been a pro and that's where he wants to be."

Browne will not stop in players' way if the chance to move to a bigger club comes along.

He believes it also has a benefit to the Parkfield club.

"If players go on for higher and better things that's great for us as well because people will want to come and play here."

It is not all bad news for the Scholars' midfield.

After missing the second half of the season with a knee injury, playmaker Hector Mackie should be fit and ready for the new term.

Browne added: "Hector will be back next season, which will be a massive plus.

"So we may lose Nick but we'll gain Hector.
