LEAGUE leaders Lemsford Youth Under-11s paid no heed to superstition in their 13th league encounter.

The unbeaten Lemsford boys thrashed Potters Bar United 7-2 to maintain their 100 per cent Mid Herts Rural Minors League Division Two record this season.

They competed from the off with some attractive football and a shot from a corner brought a terrific save from United keeper James Mason.

Minutes later, United rode their luck when a long-range shot from Scott Couzens came back off the bar and rebounded off the keeper against the upright.

Lemsford's James Harrison then made a good run from the left of the box and his goalbound shot was unfortunately turned round the post by team-mate Sam Robson following in quickly.

United's keeper was kept busy with shots well saved from man of the match Henry Porter and Couzens.

In-form striker Harrison then put two goals on the board for Lemsford within the space of three minutes.

Robson latched onto a loose ball in the box to put Lemsford three up.

Harrison completed his hat-trick with a well-placed low shot.

Jamie Holton pulled one back for Potters Bar just before half-time to give the visitors hope.

Lemsford consolidated a great team performance in the second half. They defended solidly when needed and created ample chances up front, with Harrison adding another to his tally and Robson two more for his hat-trick.

Holton added a consolation goal for the visitors to make the final score 7-2.
