LEMSFORD Youth Under-12s were denied victory as their Potters Bar United Blacks counterparts left it late to snatch a point in a 1-1 draw.

Lemsford took on Bar in a top half of the table clash in Division One of the Mid Herts Rural Minors League.

It was only a few weeks after a narrow 2-1 defeat by the same side.

Promising moves were put together by both sides in an entertaining but goalless first half, the lack of goals due largely to well organised back-lines.

After a stuttering start to the second half, Lemsford slipped into gear with some slick passing.

Their patience was rewarded after drawing a free-kick just inside their half.

Scott Couzens lofted the ball into the path of a surging run by Sam Robson, who travelled half the length of the pitch before coolly placing the ball low into the far right corner of the goal, giving the keeper no chance.

With 15 minutes to go it looked like loss of concentration would be the only thing that could deny Lemsford the win.

But Potters Bar kept battling and snatched a goal through James Ilott with only five minutes left.

Bar survived a couple of scares, but neither side could really complain at the 1-1 final score.
