Last-gasp equaliser robs ever-improving Potters Bar Town of a win at Worthing

Potters Bar Town were denied a second win in a week after a stoppage-time equaliser at Worthing gave the hosts a 1-1 draw but the point was still enough to continue their fine form.
Sean Bonnett-Johnson had fired the Scholars ahead early at Woodside Road and it looked to be enough to claim all three points.
However, with what was almost the final kick of the game Jalen Jones fired home to rob them of another win.
It was still a much-improved performance through for Bar who have now won one and drawn three of the last five games, all four of those positive results coming away from the Pakex Stadium.
Home debutant Kwame Poku was involved early, setting up Ollie Pearce with a through ball, but the shot was beaten away by Niko Tzanev in the visitors’ goal.
And Potters had the lead after 11 minutes. Bonnett-Johnson surged forward from the half-way line before turning in the area and firing a fierce drive past Kleton Perntreou.
And the Scholars took confidence from that strike, almost grabbing a second shortly after. Brad Sach found his way in behind the Worthing defence but Perntreou turned his shot away.
The Bar defence looked solid throughout the first period, rarely giving much away, but Worthing came close to an equaliser after the interval when Josh Gould fashioned a chance that Pearce fired into the side netting.
It proved a rare opportunity for Worthing, despite more of the ball, and the game should have been put beyond the home side with seven minutes to go.
Ben Ward-Cochrane was sent racong away as Potters Bar countered quickly but the forward managed to fire over from close range.
And it proved a costly miss as Jones got the equaliser, his second strike in successive weeks to have rescued a draw for The Rebels.
Despite missing out on the three points the Scholars are now eight points above the relegation places in 16th place.
And Bar continue their trips to the south coast on Saturday when Brighton is the destination for a game with bottom side Whitehawk.
