KNEBWORTH FC acting chairman Stuart Biddle has categorically denied recent rumours that Hatfield Town assistant manager Andy Prutton is to be the new manager at Watton Road.
In the past couple of weeks there has been a whispering campaign on the WHTimes' Hatfield Town FC fans' forum saying that Prutton is set to take over at Knebworth.
However, the WHT can reveal that a new manager has already been selected to take over at The Recreation Ground, and that it will definitely NOT be former Hertford Town boss Prutton.
Biddle said: "To be honest, I'm rather annoyed at these rumours as we already have a new manager in place and ready to be announced.
"We aren't revealing who that is just yet as there's still a few things to be sorted out, but what I can say is that it is certainly not Andy Prutton."
There has been a complete clearout at Knebworth FC in the last few months with Tony Lamacraft vacating his position as team manager, and his replacement was decided before the season ended.
Biddle is excited about the new boss.
He said: "I have worked with him before, and know that he will be a good manager for this club.
"He brings with him an experienced team, and hopefully he will be able to get this club back on track, with a clean slate."
What has annoyed Biddle most about the recent speculation is that those involved appear to have no link to the club as far as he is concerned.
He added: "I think the rumour started was completely unnecessary, and I would be surprised if those who started it were involved with the club at all, as they are far off the mark.
"We have a good relationship with Hatfield Town, and I was delighted for them in achieving promotion.
"Andy Prutton is a lovely lad, but he will not be managing Knebworth FC next season."
An announcement is set to be made at some point soon regarding who the new manager is, and the K's are still actively seeking a chairman and vice-chairman to hold those positions at Watton Road.
