King George Diamondbacks U12s v Garston Ladies U12s

KING George Diamondbacks U12s were unlucky to lose a closely fought game 3-2 against Garston Ladies.

This was an entertaining game from start to finish and half way through the first period Louise Avery put King George 1-0 up.

The girls were playing well and were unfortunate to concede a goal just before half-time to make the honours even at the break.

The second period was a similar affair, and Louise repeated her efforts from the first half to score again to give the Diamondbacks the lead once more.

However, Garston never lost heart and when the ball was handled in the area they levelled again through a confidently taken penalty which gave keeper Ellie Gould no chance.

Both teams had their chances to win the game and it was Garston who managed to score the winner when a deflected corner sailed into the roof of the net.

Some last minute pressure was to no avail for the King George girls; a collision outside the penalty box robbed Summer Overton of a shot on goal, but they can take heart from an excellent performance.
