Potters Bar Town’s first Calor League Division One Central match for three weeks ended in a disappointing 4-0 defeat away to Kettering Town last night (Tuesday).

With rain causing match after match to be postponed due to waterlogged pitches for several weeks, Bar were glad to return to playing action, however things did not go to plan.

Firstly traffic problems caused the Scholars to arrived in Kettering behind schedule causing kick-off to be delayed by five minutes.

Then on the field, Jack Friend’s side found themselves 1-0 down on 21 minutes when Andy Gooding lobbed in from 25 yards for the Poppies.

It was 2-0 on 41 minutes as Jonathan Thorpe finished a cross from the left.

Gooding tucked in his second of the night a minute into the second half and the scoring was wrapped up as Elliott Sandy netted the fourth and final goal of the evening.

The result leaves Potters Bar 17th in the league table.

Bar will hope for better on Saturday as they are set to travel away again this time to Haywood Way to face Aylesbury.
