LEMSFORD are through to the WHSFL Chairman's Cup semi-final after beating Peartree Wanderers 4-2 in a play-off.

The village side will now face Doctor's Tonic with the winners then meeting either Hatfield Sports or Eight Bells in the final.

Clive Temple gave the Division Two hosts a first-half lead at Lemsford Village Hall on Sunday.

Division Three runners-up Peartree had chances of their own in the opening period but could not find the back of the net.

In the second half Lemsford stepped up a gear.

Striker Matt Jones caused havoc in the Wanderers back-line and hit a hat-trick with three tidy finishes to put his side 4-0 ahead.

Wanderers did not give up and notched a couple of goals to make the score more respectable.

Firstly, Lenny Hart crossed into the six-yard box from the left wing.

He found Matt Wheeler, who tucked in from close range.

A corner from the right was then met by Wheeler at the near post.

He, possibly with his arm, hit it goalwards but the keeper saved.

The ball spilled out to Michael Curtis, who rifled through the crowded penalty box and into the back of the net.
