Ian Hurst scored an injury time penalty to ensure the SSML Division One points were shared in the Hatfield Town and Codicote derby clash at the Gosling Stadium.
With Codicote leading 2-1 on Tuesday night with goals from Michael Ettienne and Leeroy Williams, and the clock ticking past 90 minutes, it looked as though Hatfield’s unbeaten home league record was coming to an end.
However, when the referee pointed to the spot in the 96th minute Hurst kept his cool to convert.
Hatfield had a golden chance to take lead in the first half as Ettienne gave a penalty, however Codicote keeper Billy Barnes saved Jason Coughlan’s spot kick.
It was to prove costly as Ettienne atoned for his earlier error to score himself and give Codicote a 1-0 lead at the break.
Matt Hodges levelled for Hatfield on 65 minutes only for Codicote to re-take the lead three minutes later through Williams.
Hatfield are third in the league table two points behind second placed Bedford, but with a game in hand on the side currently in the final promotion place.
Codicote sit in sixth position.
