The ESFA Potters Bar Primary Schools District U11 football team are celebrating after a 2-0 victory over rivals St Albans handed them the ESFA nine-a-side Shires Cup.

The game, held in Gloucester on Bank Holiday Monday, keeps the side’s successful season going and means that they have not conceded a goal against Saints in the five meetings this season.

Both goals came from David Hicks in what manager Dean Barker called a “superb” performance

Hicks could have had even more with two more shots coming back off the crossbar.

Goalkeeper Finlay Herrick enjoyed another fine performance and will be pleased with another clean sheet.

Defenders Albert Wood, Jokubas Mazionis and Freddie Davies were exceptional once again.

Midfielders Antonio Jackson-Ruiz, Riley Warmerdam, captain Callum Howell, Harrison Hubert, Kameron Lall and Hicks kept the ball well and moved it quickly on a lovely playing surface.

Striker Adnan Lembariti didn’t stop running up front.

Barker said: “Having won the big two, the league and Shires Cup, the squad now travel to Reading FC on Friday night to play against Sutton in the ESFA 9-a-side Southern Counties Cup Final, which is the biggest cup competition in district football.

“We beat Thurrock in the final last year so we are the current holders.”
