HERTS Signs Under-12s lifted the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Shield by beating John Warner Reds 2-1 in the final.

Hatfield side Signs started the match the stronger.

Despite showing a few signs of nerves, they were soon 1-0 up.

Reedon Pearce ran through and placed the ball in the corner of the net.

That was soon followed with a well-taken goal scored by Kieran Taylor and that helped settle the boys down.

John Warner never gave up and battled right to the end, scoring two minutes from time.

For the Herts side there were great defensive displays from Alex Arnull and captain and man-of-the-match Jamie Nicholas.

They kept John Warner away from the goal and never really threatened keeper Jacob Hall.

Jake Johnson also deserves a mention for having a great game on the right of midfield.

Herts were unlucky not to score more goals.

Congratulations were given to the team for a wonderful and successful first season together.
