Hatfield United had to settle for a point from a 2-2 draw with a young Hoddesdon Town Reserves side.

The hosts started better against unbeaten rivals, but needed Ryan Moss to make a vital early intervention.

Centre-backs Will Hanson and Dylan Woodford worked hard to contain Hoddesdon’s attackers, with Moss blocking a goalbound shot.

Dale Stewart’s corner was headed goalwards by Harvey Coleman but saved on the line, before Scott O’Neill put Hoddesdon ahead.

James Upson had an effort ruled out for Hatfield, but they were level when Stewart sent a free-kick to the far post for George Ansell to head in.

Daryl Hall fired just wide before the break, but Coleman forced home another Stewart free-kick after the restart for 2-1.

Ansell limped off to be replaced by Jack Lewis and Hoddesdon squared matters 20 minutes from time.

Moss made two superb late saves to earn a point and take man of the match honours.
