HATFIELD Town will go into tomorrow’s home league clash against Hadley in buoyant mood after securing a much-need victory on Wednesday night.

In the Challenge Trophy First Round Micky Nathan’s Blueboys defeated Arlesey Town Reserves 3-2 midweek, which was their first victory since August 24 - a run of nine winless games.

Tim Gbadeyan notched a brace on his debut, and Jason Coughlin netted in his first game back since recovering from a knee injury picked up in pre-season.

Nathan Hilaire and Lewis Foster scored for Arlesey.

And assistant manager Neil Ewing believes there’s no reason why Hatfield can’t secure only their third win in the SSML Premier Division on Saturday against Hadley.

“We are a new side, and it is taking a little bit longer than we expected to gel,” said Ewing.

“Hadley have always been a good side, but we have just got to crack on. We are playing some good football, but in the league we have got to convert our chances.

“We fancy our chances of getting a win against Hadley. They play good football, but we are getting near to where we want to be with the sqaud.”

The match kicks off at 3pm at The Gosling Stadium, Welwyn Garden City.
