From the start of next season, the Blueboys will be adding a Bluegirls team to their ranks after negotiations were finalised on a Hatfield Town ladies team.

The team will commence training in mid-January at Travellers Lane, Hatfield while competitve matches will be played at Birchwood Sports and Leisure Centre.

Manager Brooke Donovan said: “I got in contact with the chairman Chris Maloney last Friday and by Monday, the deal was done.

“I knew Chris from my time at Hertfordshire FA so when I offered the proposal, he jumped at the chance.

“He is 110 per cent behind the project. I was blown away with how committed he was from the start. He told us to not to worry about kits, cones, balls, at all. He would sort that out which I think shows how important it will be for the club.

“It is a community club so to further links between the town and the club by addressing the need for a women’s team is fantastic.”

Anyone over the age of 16 who would like to be considered for the squad should ring Brooke on 07872 639677 or email hatfieldtownladiesfc@gmail.com
