TOWN chairman Ted Collie was proud of his players after Hatfield's hard-fought win away to Crawley Green on Saturday.

Despite being reduced to nine men, Hatfield stole the South Midlands League points with a 1-0 victory thanks to captain Martin Standen's solitary goal.

Speaking after the game, Collie said: "I am so proud of the boys.

"Despite going down to nine men, they still played with shape and passion.

"Praise must be given to Trevor Lloyd. He didn't have a striker on the bench but he adjusted the team to earn a great victory."

Town had both Daniel Staples and sub Barry Chamberlain sent off in the match.

Collie added: "I don't think it is right to criticise match officials, but I do feel that sometimes common sense should come into their decision making.

"I know that we are under scrutiny, but all we ask for is a fair crack of the whip.
