HATFIELD Sports returned to league action after last week's Herts Intermediate Cup exit with a comfortable 5-2 away win against Hatfield Seniors.
A slow start by Sports soon changed when Aaron Coppard was found wide on the left by Iomie Stanley.
Coppard cut inside two defenders before curling his shot over the keeper into the far corner from just outside the box.
Sports increased their lead soon after when Coppard broke down the left again.
He crossed into the box where Dan Hedges took the ball at pace before firing low to the keeper's right.
Sitting back slightly towards the end of the half, Sports allowed Seniors to pull a goal back.
Sports were given a stern talking-to at half-time and within five minutes of the restart were 3-1 up.
Stanley flicked on a long goal kick from Danny Davies to Adam Woolmington, who played the ball over the last defender into the stride of Hedges.
He took two touches before finding the top right corner, leaving the Seniors keeper helpless.
Hatfield Sports continued to press forward and the impressive Coppard again drove at the heart of the Seniors defence before being taken down in the box.
Tom Mardle stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 4-1.
Seniors enjoyed a brief spell of pressure and were rewarded with their second of the game, but Sports and Hedges weren't finished.
A long ball from the back by Rod Thorpe found Hedges just inside his own half.
He ran half the length of the pitch before rounding the keeper to complete a deserved hat-trick.
Sports manager Paul Evans was delighted with the team's performance and the way they picked themselves up after last week's penalty heartache.
