HATFIELD Town claimed a thumping 5-1 victory on Saturday over Holmer Green, after going a goal down at the Gosling Stadium.

The three points lifted the Blueboys up to the dizzy heights of fourth in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division table with at least a game in hand over the three sides above them.

That seems even more remarkable as Andy Prutton’s side had lost their two league games previous to this one.

Things had not started too well on Saturday for Town as the visitors from Buckinghamshire grabbed the opening goal in the 15th minute courtesy of Gareth Williams.

Green kept their advantage for only a further 15 minutes until Rhys Lawrence levelled to make it 1-1.

That’s how things stayed at half-time, but a super second period display from Hatfield was to turn the tables on the match.

Jason Caswell netted on 65 minutes to put his side ahead.

Lawrence bagged his second and Town’s third of the day not long after.

Then as the clock ticked down Caswell grabbed another on 88 minutes.

There was still time for John McGrandles to get in on the act as he hit the fifth in the fourth minute of added on time to seal the three points.
