Hatfield celebrate going 1-0 up

Hatfield Town kept their hopes of joining noisy neighbours Welwyn Garden City in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division next season very much alive with a 5-0 thrashing of Langford at Gosling Stadium on Saturday (April 18).

With WGC celebrating the capture of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One championship a mere three miles away, the Blueboys put down a marker to both FC Broxbourne Borough and Bedford in the race for promotion with this high-octane win.

Callum Hailey put Hatfield 1-0 up inside half hour and it was two before the interval through Matt Hodges.

Langford never looked like getting back into it and their peril was intensified with a third from Ian Hurst.

Chris Webb and Luke White made it four and five to keep Ashley Purser’s men outside the promotion places via goal difference.
