SHERRARDSWOOD Ladies were able to miss two penalties and still beat Kings Sport 2-0 in the league on Sunday.

They played a very attacking game throughout and were back on song after a dip in form in the last few weeks.

Sherrardswood created many opportunities going forward and defended well as a unit.

The only chance Kings had in the first 25 minutes was cleared off the line by right back Naomi Swift.

Five minutes later Sherrardswood got a break after striker Maggie Hall received a long ball out from keeper Paula Collis.

Hall set up Sue Hart, who fired into the top left corner to give her side the lead.

The second half saw even more gusto from the hosts.

Their pressure eventually resulted in them being awarded two penalties.

Firstly, striker Jax Bryceland was brought down in the box, as was midfielder Naomi Totten later on.

Kings were saved by the crossbar on the first, and then by the right-hand post from the second spot-kick.

The WGC side kept their chins up and on the 70 minutes striker Bryceland deservedly struck a goal to seal the win. Hart was awarded player of the match for the second week in a row.

On Sunday Sherrardswood are playing in a charity match organised by Katie Baron.

It will be against local farmers to raise funds for the Fire Service Benevolent Fund.

The club has already raised almost £1,000 through sales of this year's SLFC calendar and they hope to collect more.
