STRIKER James Harrison put Astrium Athletic to the sword as Lemsford Youth Under-11s opened 2008 with an emphatic victory.

Harrison scored five goals as Lemsford won their opening Mid Herts Rural Minors League Division Two clash of the year 9-0.

Hotshot Harrison made his intentions clear after only five minutes when he had a shot brilliantly saved by Astrium keeper Alex Coates.

Central defender Henry Porter opened the scoring on 15 minutes when he curled one into the top of the net from the edge of the area.

Two minutes later Harrison split the defence and slotted home a close-range shot.

Harrison was in again when Coletta won possession in midfield and slotted a nice ball through.

Sam Robson split the Astrium defence with an inch-perfect, first-time pass for Harrison to complete his hat-trick.

He took his personal tally to four just before the interval when the under siege keeper dropped the ball for an easy tap-in.

Lemsford substitute Danny Roubicek took the ball down the left channel 10 minutes into the second half. The midfielder then cleverly rolled the ball back across to Laurie Burton, who drove home from the edge of the box.

Alex Coates was soon in the action again, saving from Harrison, but the Lemsford marksman claimed his fifth not long after.

Substitute Will McGinn added to the tally and an unfortunate own goal made it 9-0.

Man of the match Porter and the energetic Alistair Davey were linchpins in Lemsford's defence, which gave little away in the side's best win of the season.
