GOSLING Youth Under-13s beat Ware Lions in a five-goal thriller at a windswept Monk's Walk.

The Gosling boys won the Mid Herts Rural Minors League match 3-2 thanks to some excellent finishing.

They found themselves a goal down after just a minute as Ware Lions forced the early play.

Gosling soon settled and began to play a much tighter game and were rewarded when striker Liam Catchpole scored a quality goal.

That was followed shortly after by right-back Thomas Carter turning in a superb Ben Lanza free-kick to take Gosling into the half-time break leading 2-1.

Gosling played against the wind after the interval and man of the match Ned Birss blasted in a wonderful free-kick to give his side a 3-1 advantage.

With the game entering the last quarter, centre back Birss proved virtually unbeatable and made one outstanding goalline clearance.

However, Ware Lions did manage to find the net once more which set up a pulsating finish to an already excellent game.
