HATFIELD Sports have been crowned the WHSFL Division Three champions after claiming their first league title since forming in 1976.

Sports beat Beehive 4-1 on Sunday, grabbing the three points needed to win the league on goal difference from rivals Peartree Wanderers.

The Hatfield side set about Beehive from the first whistle and were two up at half-time.

Early substitute Toby Hooton netted his first when he received a pass from Dan Hedges and slotted past the keeper.

Sports increased their lead when Hedges played in Hooton for his second.

In the second half, Beehive didn't clear a Sam Perrin corner and Tom Mardle was on hand to finish off Sports' third.

Beehive lifted their game and deservedly pulled one back soon after.

As they looked for another, Sports pushed forward and Mardle set up Hooton to complete his hat-trick.

After the game a Sports spokesman said: "The manager, officers and players of Hatfield Sports would like to thank Beehive for the manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the match, a credit to Division Three.

"Hatfield Sports would also like to recognise runners-up Peartree Wanderers, who have completed an excellent first season in the league.
