WGC climbed to ninth in the Premier Division of the South Midlands League after defeating Leverstock Green 1-0 on Saturday.

Substitute Paul Marks scored the only goal of the game for the Citizens 13 minutes from full-time when he picked up a Sean Deanus pass and crashed the ball past the visiting keeper.

That was enough to secure another three points for the Herns Lane club who have performed admirably on the field since former Leyton duo Del Deanus and Steve Newing took the reins.

Next up for City is an away trip to take on Oxhey Jets on Saturday.
