SHERRARDSWOOD Ladies left it late to rescue a 1-1 draw against Hoddesdon Owls on Sunday.

Freezing windy conditions resulted in a tough game for both teams.

Sherrardswood were shooting into the wind in the first half, which gave the Owls the edge.

The midfield was packed by Hoddesdon, forcing the game to be played through the middle of the pitch.

After several chances for the visitors and some excellent goalkeeping once again from Paula Collis, Sherrardswood were lucky to go into the interval just 1-0 down.

A decision was made at the start of the second half to play Emily Davey up front with striker Jax Bryceland, allowing the midfield to lay on balls for them.

Late into the second half, the home side levelled things.

Davey's corner into a crowded six-yard area found Sue Hart who, with help from Jax Bryceland, placed the ball into net.

Sherrardswood Ladies then raised their game to put pressure on the Hoddesdon defence.

Jules Comerford and Hart missed a couple of decent chances but they could not find a way through to grab the all- important winner.
