TOWN were left cursing the officials as they were denied two penalties and harshly had goalkeeper Ashlee Jones sent off in a 2-1 defeat to Cheshunt on Monday.
Four games into the Ryman League Division One North season and Steve Bowne's men have yet to taste victory after two away draws and two home defeats.
Bar began in a positive fashion against the Ambers. However, long-range efforts from Sylvain Doussou and Alex Bolt failed to really test keeper Jake Whincup.
Home striker Paul Armstrong then fed Andre Humphrey, who turned his marker and saw his powerful shot turned away by the diving Whincup.
Armstrong then drove wide himself before Cheshunt took the lead.
Skipper Theo Daniels sliced a clearance high into the air and it came down on the edge of his own area.
Keeper Jones and defender Shayne Mangodza failed to clear the danger, allowing Cheshunt captain Mervin Abraham to fire into the net.
Things got even worse eight minutes later as the visitors got their second.
An Ashley Taylor-Forbes corner from the left was punched clear by Jones, but only to Reece Prestedge.
The midfielder volleyed the ball into the area, it hit Abraham and fell to ex-Bar man Duane Jackman, who lashed it into the roof of the net.
Potters Bar replied well and had a penalty appeal turned down on the half-hour.
Winger Serge Makofo was shoved off the ball in the box but referee Darren Flanagan waved play on, much to the surprise of the majority inside Parkfield.
He did award a spot-kick to the hosts on the stroke of half-time.
Keeper Whincup was lucky to escape with just a booking when he hauled down Humphrey in the box.
Makofo netted from 12 yards with a questionable staggered run up, which saw him wait until Whincup dived before tucking it into the right-hand side of the goal.
The hosts upped their game after the break as they looked to get back on level terms.
They could and probably should have been awarded another penalty 19 minutes into the second half.
Humphrey made a jinking run into the box, the ball bounced up and hit the hand of defender Graeme Butler before being cleared.
Appeals were yet again turned down by the man in the middle.
The dangerous Makofo lashed another effort wide after receiving a James Nash throw and beating his defender, before Daniels nodded a corner wide of the target.
An excellent chance for the hosts to have a crack at goal came from a free-kick awarded 20 yards out.
Instead of shooting, Hector Mackie and Alex Bolt tried an intricate set-piece which failed miserably.
Cheshunt broke as the ball was whacked up to substitute Daniel Bradford on the halfway line.
He ran at goal, custodian Jones rushed out of his area and fouled the forward with defenders covering behind him.
It was a bookable challenge, but the ref decided to send off the unfortunate Bar stopper.
Sub goalkeeper Dave Lovell was brought on for full-back Junior Luke.
Lovell had to be immediately alert to superbly tip a Jackman header from the following free-kick over.
Potters Bar, stretched with a man less than their opposition, could not break through the Ambers defence and suffered their second home defeat of the campaign.
