Welwyn Garden City Youth has received £1,250 funding for its U9 squad from CALA Homes as part of the house builder’s new bursary scheme.

The club, which was established by parents in 2012, fields 27 teams from U7 to U14s and has established links with the senior club.

The donation from CALA Homes has been used to supply the squad with training tops for its 30 players as part of the rollout of a new team kit for the next two seasons.

A thrilled Neil Deans, coach of WGC U9s, said: “We have grown at an incredible rate since forming just five years ago.

“We believe children play football to have fun and we want to ensure our children enjoy the game while learning important life skills.

“This donation means that we can provide all our U9s with a training top which not only looks smart but also promotes our club values.”
