Potters Bar Town player-manager Jack Friend has resigned as first team boss.

Friend became one of the youngest football managers in the country when he took over the role in November 2013 at the age of just 23 following the departure of Adam Lee.

His first season in charge saw Town end 15th in the Southern League Division One Central.

The Scholars are currently 16th in the table, they have struggled in the league since the turn of the year with six defeats from eight games.

Friend’s last game in charge was the 2-1 loss at Aylesbury United last night (Wednesday).

It is understood that former Hillingdon Borough manager Steve Ringrose, Friend’s assistant, will stay on and manage the team.
