Five players are expected to stay on at Welwyn Garden City for the time being at least after talks with new manager Dean Barker.

Jay Rolfe, Jonny Sexton, Ben Spaul, Dave Keenleyside and Ashley Kersey will all remain at Herns Lane for the short term.

A number of them are well known to the new boss, having played under him during his reign at Cockfosters.

Spaul in fact was the Fosters’ captain during that period.

The news will come as a relief to supporters who had seen the vast majority of the first-team squad voice their displeasure and walk-out following the resignation of Adam Fisher.

Barker has already made one signing, bringing Taishan Griffith back to Herns Lane from Hendon.

That news, however, was coupled with the confirmation of Charlie Smith’s move in the opposite direction.
