CODICOTE Reserves inched a step closer to the Reserve Division One title with their 10th league win on the spin thanks to a 2- 0 home win against Met Police Bushey Reserves.

The hosts dominated from start to the finish and took the lead after 25 minutes when keeper Tom Wicks punted a hopeful ball forward which carried all the way through to midfielder and man-of-the-match Sean Harte.

On the edge of the box he took one touch before smashing the ball with his favoured left-foot past the keeper.

Harte was also instrumental in the second goal 10 minutes later when he got fouled on the edge of the box after a surging run.

The free-kick was taken by debutant right back Andy Newton who from 25 yards smashed the ball into the bottom corner to give the home side a two goal advantage.

The second half was a slightly closer affair but Codicote held on to run out 2 -0 winners and the three points were fully deserved.

Manager Adam Fisher was clearly delighted after the game. He said: "This was our best performance since Christmas and there wasn't one bad individual display.

"Whatever team I pick they just seem to click straight away and have a real desire to win every single game.

"We have eight league games to go and we are 12 points clear at the top but we know this is now going to be our hardest period and we need one more big effort.
